US CONSTITUTION REQUIREMENT
Before a credential is granted, all teacher candidates must satisfy the California Commission Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) Constitution requirement. You can do this in one of the four ways listed below:
- If you graduated from a CSU campus, you have already met this requirement.
- Show evidence on your official transcript of having taken a course in U.S. government or politics. An AP government course counts if it appears on your college transcript showing 2 or more units credit. Check with the Teacher Preparation Center (Burk Hall 244; 415.405.3594) to find out whether a course you have taken will count
- Complete a course (two semester units or three quarter units) in the provisions and principles of the United States Constitution.
- Pass an examination in the subject given by a regionally accredited community college, college, or university.
Listed below are some test administration sites. The ORIGINAL test result – not a copy - is required for your credential application. The cost for this test ranges from $35-$70 and test results can take 3-5 days or more to arrive in the mail.
