TEACHER PREPARATION IS CHANGING
For the first time since the Ryan Act of 1970, teacher preparation went through
major changes in California. In the fall of 1998, the legislature adopted and
passed Senate Bill 2042 in order to establish a new system for providing teacher
preparation within the state of California. The California Commission on Teacher
Credentialling was charged with establishing new teacher education curriculum
and program standards in response to Senate Bill 2042 (http://www.ctc.ca.gov/commission/agendas/2004-06/june-2004-7A.pdf ).
Starting in the Spring 2004 semester, San Francisco State University - College
of Education began offering its newly revised Multiple and Single Subject Credential
Programs which complies with the new standards established by the California
Commission on Teacher Credentialing in response to SB 2042.
