Credential Description Multiple Subject Teaching Credentials authorize the holder to teach in self-contained classrooms such as classroom settings in most elementary schools. However, a teacher authorized for multiple subject instruction may be assigned to teach in any self-contained classroom (preschool, K-12, or in classes organized primarily for adults). In addition, the holder of a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential may serve in a core or team teaching setting. Those who earn a Multiple Subjects Credential through our approved SB 2042 compliant program will be authorized to teach provide the following services to English learners: (1) instruction for English language development in grades twelve and below, including preschool, and in classes organized primarily for adults; and (2) specially designed content instruction delivered in English in multiple-subject-matter (self-contained) classes. This program is intended to be a 3 Semester, full-time program with either a Summer or Fall start. Credential Description The Single Subject Teaching Credential Program is designed to prepare qualified candidates with the course work and field experiences needed to enable them to effectively teach their subject in California public schools, particularly middle and high schools. The Department of Secondary Education offers teacher preparation in the following subject areas: • Art Those who earn a Single Subject Credential through our approved SB 2042 compliant program will be authorized to teach provide the following services to English learners: (1) instruction for English language development in grades twelve and below, including preschool, and in classes organized primarily for adults; and (2) specially designed content instruction delivered in English in multiple-subject-matter (self-contained) classes. The program can be completed in two semesters of full time enrollment. Candidates who are currently teaching as a pre-intern or intern may be eligible for the internship program; the courses must be distributed over a minimum of three semesters and four semesters are recommended.
