The deadline to apply is May 1, 2013. For International Students, it is recommended that you submit your application materials by April 1, 2013 so that it will arrive in the United States by the May 1, 2013 deadline. 




Potential Students must:

  1. Meet all SFSU Graduate Admission Requirements for International Students
    • TOEFL iBT 80 or IELTS 7.0
      Level 1 Graduate Writing Requirement [4.0/6.0 on essay test of paper-based TOEFL or 24/30 on the writing section for the Internet-based TOEFL)
    • B.A. Degrees in fields such as Foreign Language, Education, Linguistics, Chinese Literature, Chinese Culture & History, or in any relevant majors
  2. Be Native Chinese Speakers and College Graduates who have passed the Mandarin Proficiency Test at 70% passing level
  3. Have Financial Documentation
  4. Have an immunization record for TB



To apply for the program, applicants must:

  1. Contact a coordinator
  2. Apply online to San Francisco State University using CSU Mentor
    • Apply for Fall 2012 semester
    • Choose Education (Single Subject/Special Interest China, Credential & M.A)
  3. Take the TOEFL or IELTS
    • Recommended last date to take either test is April 1st
    • Scores should be sent by ETS directly to SFSU using school code 4683
  4. Send the following documents to Graduate Division at SFSU
